THE VEGAN LEGION HAS ARRIVED

Metal has a reputation. Leather, blood, brutality. What it doesn't get enough credit for is how many of its icons are refusing to eat animals while they scream about the collapse of everything else.

We built a running list: the vegan and vegetarian artists carrying the genre, whole bands going plant-based as a lineup, and movements like Savage Lands proving metal culture can fund real conservation work instead of just talking about it.

Alissa White-Gluz leads it off — freshly out of Arch Enemy and fronting her new band, Blue Medusa, still as vocal about veganism as ever.
